DO'S AND DON'TS

        DO:
  • If you decide to greet somebody with a flowers give only an odd number (an even number is only suitable for funerals!).
  • Leave tips: if you receive good service, the usual practice is to give at least ten per cent of the total.
  • Be punctual for appointments as Lithuanians tend to value each other’s time.
  • Be aware that you might have to remove your shoes before entering Lithuanian home.

        DON’T:
  • Do not consume alcohol in parks, squares and other public places – it is prohibited by law. Smoking could be prohibited in some public places too.
  • Do not litter out of the car windows or in public places, you might get fined!
  • Do not make jokes about Lithuanian culture. Lithuanians are very proud of their culture, so to make a joke about it would be in poor taste.
  • Do not confuse a Lithuanian with being Russian. Lithuanians hate it when foreigners, unaware of the troublesome history of their country, confuse them with Russians.
  • Do not mix Baltic States and their capitals - each country is very proud to be independent,
and apart of that, Lithuanians are extremely proud to have more than 1000 year history.
